OBJECTIVE: This pilot study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of conducting a randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing direct-access physiotherapy for children and adolescents presenting to the pediatric emergency department (ED) with low acuity musculoskeletal complaints, to current usual care provided by a physician alone. DESIGN: Pragmatic parallel 2-arm, single-blinded, single site, feasibility pilot RCT. METHODS:…

CONCLUSIONS: This interpretable LGBM-based model provides a reliable, noninvasive tool for TPE diagnosis. It supports clinical decision-making with real-time risk assessment and promises broader applicability through future integration into clinical information systems.

CONCLUSION: Esketamine may decrease the dosage of norepinephrine in patients with septic shock receiving invasive mechanical ventilation. It is beneficial for stabilizing hemodynamics and appears to be an effective and safe agent for patients with septic shock requiring invasive mechanical ventilation.

BACKGROUND: Adjuvant therapy with capecitabine is recommended to improve survival for resectable biliary tract cancers (BTC) patients. Considering that the combination of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors with chemotherapy has demonstrated a survival benefit over chemotherapy alone in advanced stage BTC, we aim to evaluate the treatment efficacy and safety of tislelizumab, a PD-1 inhibitor, combined with capecitabine…

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of intra-articular injection of 5% Dextrose (D5W) prolotherapy in treatment symptoms of Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disc Displacement without Reduction (DDwoR) with limited mouth opening (Closed-Lock) of patients’refractory to pharmacological and physical therapy. This pilot study included twenty female patients suffering from symptoms of DDwoR with limited mouth opening…

CONCLUSIONS: In this pilot study, the FDDA, a structured diagnostic aid for guiding PCPs in identifying the causes of unexplained fatigue in their patients, was not able to show a global improvement in patient outcomes despite improvements in fatigue and satisfaction with care. The evaluation of fatigue in larger-scale studies is warranted.

CONCLUSION: Cognitive screening with the MoCA seems to be robust against depression and could therefore be used to screen for MCI regardless of depression level.

Pediatric major depressive disorder (MDD) represents a leading cause of disability worldwide in children and adolescents, while its underlying pathophysiology remains largely elusive. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) and the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis are considered intertwined regulatory systems crucially implicated in the pathophysiology of depressive disorders. This study explores the cross-sectional and longitudinal association between the…

CONCLUSIONS: Tislelizumab as adjuvant therapy significantly enhanced PFS and PFI, with a favorable safety profile. Longer follow-up is necessary to determine whether this regimen can be considered as the standard of care for patients with resectable rNPC following endoscopic surgery.

CONCLUSION: WAC is a safe and effective alternative to CC for novice endoscopists, with similar procedure times, learning curves and safety profiles. These findings support the inclusion of WAC in gastroenterology training programmes.
