CONCLUSIONS: NT-501 for MacTel resulted in statistically significantly reduced EZA loss compared with sham procedures. (Funded by Neurotech Pharmaceuticals; ClinicalTrials.gov numbers, NCT03316300 and NCT03319849.).

Symptoms in symptomatic GERD patients result from esophageal acid exposure and are treated with agents that inhibit gastric acid secretion. We analyzed data from a clinical trial evaluating the effect of ranitidine plus antacid on heartburn severity in GERD patients. After 26 subjects ingested a standard meal and received either placebo or ranitidine-antacid, heartburn severity…

CONCLUSIONS: Higher psychotherapy dosage led to faster initial improvements, but long-term outcomes were not superior to those achieved with a lower dosage. These results should be interpreted with caution, as unregulated treatment during follow-up reduced the power to detect significant dosage effects. Both SPSP and ST provide viable alternatives to treatments focused solely on depression.

CONCLUSION: This study suggests that describing the disadvantages of nonadherence to pain medication resulted in more positive beliefs about pain medication than stating the advantages of adherence. The use of a patient testimonial within this loss-frame strengthened the effect. Our findings indicate that the use of framing and testimonials in OA care can matter and…

Achieving an apical seal is critical for apexification treatment of nonvital immature teeth. While this is commonly accomplished using biocompatible mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), its limitations, such as prolonged setting time, discoloration, and challenging handling, have driven the search for alternative materials. This study aimed to compare the clinical and radiographic success of bioceramic putty…

In this study, we compared the performance of gadobutrol and meglumine gadoterate, two macrocyclic non-ionic and ionic contrast agents, for evaluating quantitative perfusion parameters of pituitary macroadenomas using dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI). Patients with pituitary macroadenomas were prospectively enrolled and randomly assigned to be administered gadobutrol or meglumine gadoterate for MRI. Perfusion parameters…

Leveraging adaptive tumour immunity to control mesothelioma via immune checkpoint blockade is now a standard therapeutic approach. However, the determinants of sensitivity remain elusive. Low non-synonymous mutation burden and programmed death-ligand 1 expression, an abundance of immunosuppressive immune cell infiltration, and 9p21 deletion should all mitigate responses to therapy. To address this knowledge gap, we…

Chemotherapy serves as the primary therapeutic approach for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), yet its efficacy remains unsatisfactory. This study was a single-arm, open-label, single-center clinical trial (NCT05447702) involving patients with newly diagnosed stage II-III TNBC at West China Hospital. The treatment regimen consisted of camrelizumab (200 mg intravenously every 2 weeks, 12 cycles), apatinib (250…

A novel oral combination of the long-acting antimalarials pyronaridine (PYR) and piperaquine (PQP) has potential for malaria chemoprevention. This single-center randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study assessed the effects of PYR and PQP alone and when co-administered on Fridericia-corrected QT interval (QTcF). Between February 14, 2022, and May 31, 2022, thirty-seven healthy black adults of African sub-Saharan…

CONCLUSION: Ingestion of plant protein-enriched wheat biscuits by OW subjects resulted in lower postprandial responses of alanine, glutamine and threonine compared to NW. AAs composition of BCAAs-enriched biscuit resulted also in lower responses of asparagine and serine while that of the L-arg-enriched biscuit, in lower glycine but higher taurine responses in OW compared to NW…
